About Me

Chris whalen

Hey everyone! As you can tell by now, my name is Chris Whalen and I'm currently an online personal trainer/fitness coach. Here I would like to share more my personal story with fitness and its impact on my life.

As a child I was enrolled in a variety of sports.  Whether it was soccer, basketball, wrestling, etc. I was constantly busy and from an early age was introduced to a life of exercise and health.  As life went on I began to focus on my main sports of soccer, wrestling, and long distance running.  Although these were my main sports I always seemed to struggle in the physical aspect of each one.  My size was always an issue.  Not only was it an issue in my performance, but I also endured mental bullying.  Frequently subjected to the comments of, "You're not big enough", "You're not strong enough", "You can't do that", etc. I began to believe these negative thoughts.  I began to see myself in the same light others did.

When someone is subjected to these ideas, there is two paths one can take in response. One is to give up.  The other, which I chose, was to persevere and work hard day in and day out to better myself.  However those unkind words took a toll on me until rather recently.  I am however thankful I went through those trials because it led me to be the leader, hard worker, and fitness coach that I am today!

Not only did I feel better about myself, bulk up, and get stronger, but I also was able to become more confident in both my social life as well as professional life.  I began to take on more leadership roles in my fraternity at Sonoma State, and after I began my previous job at 24 Hour Fitness I became a leading trainer, educating both clients and fellow staff members.  I quickly rose to the position of Assistant Fitness Manager as well as achieved the title of “Master Trainer”. Through my experiences and the love I had for taking people from a place of discomfort, pain, and misery into creating a new outlook on life I enrolled into chiropractor school. I attribute a large majority of my success to the lessons I learned while in pursuit of my own physical goals. My story, along with countless others, just proves that accomplishing fitness goals and feeling good about your body and health can help you in multiple aspects of your life.

I believe in coaching as a way to not only improve your life, but also as a way to educate you to understand how to do this for yourself. My goal as a coach is for you to no longer need my assistance, have confidence, and achieve greatness in each of your lives.

Make SMART goals, focus on them, and achieve them. Watch for yourself how you'll change as you achieve them.
